The Ministry of National Defense (MND) states today (30th) that the Ministry’s Civil Service Ethics Office under the Illegal Military Goods Sales Project Team collaborated with New Taipei District Prosecutors Office and carried out searches at six units, including the Army’s 3rd Supporting Command. The searches, led by Prosecutor Chen, Jian-Liang, involved Agency Against Corruption, New Taipei Military Police, and Taoyuan Military Police (both under the Military Police Command) investigating against seven officers and non-commissioned officers, including Lieutenant Huang, concerning any illegality in the sale of retired military goods.

The Ministry of National Defense says that it will adhere to the principle of “never mistreat the innocent and never turn a blind eye to evil” and cooperate with prosecutors and investigators to shed light on the incident. Any person, if proven to be associated with the incident and in violation of law, will be justly dealt with based on the principle of “simultaneous criminal and administrative punishments”.

The Ministry of National Defense stresses that one of its chief tasks is to ensure “laws are abided, corruptions are punished, and malpractices are prevented from occurring”. In addition, it will create a more sound system to combat malpractices and create a clean, uncorrupt culture in the military.
